WANTED… A WRITER FOR A BOOK ON MY LIFE AS A CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY
CONTACT: firstname.lastname@example.org October 2009
Hello Norman. We of the South hope this finds you safe and sound south of the border. We had thought of you a couple of times up this way when one of our local priests went missing in Mexico. He had built a retirement home down there and had been there only a couple of days when he suddenly disappeared. It turns out that he was murdered by his long-term care taker so I guess no one can blame that on "violence in Mexico" as that could have happened anywhere.
I regret that you have become the target of Michael’s ego driven immature sensibilities. It distracts from your message.
We all hope that you stay safe down there in your work. God knows we need more messages of peace, charity, and hope. Keep up the spirit and the spirit will keep you up as well sir. God bless you and protect you.
Hi Enthusiast…thanks for your kind words. I hope that you and yours are good, as well as all that read this post. Your priest story was a tragedy.
I have had a similar experience while working with, and living in, the center, of the southeast Asian gang area, of Fresno CA.
I’ve worked with the Mong-Hmong, the same as in the movie with Clint Eastwood "Gran Torino."
I had a Cambodian man, who was in the same apartment complex as myself, I was the apartment manager. This Cambodian, had interpreted for me several times, and I had shared “Christ” and the plan of “salvation,” with him through the months also.
I would have called him a friend, for seven or eight months, he always helped me when he had the chance, just a nice guy.
Then one night as I was walking to my place, a brick flew right past my face and crashed into the building.
At first, I thought it was and accident of some sorts, it was semi-dark. I had gone to a crouch position and turned and saw- in the shadows- someone running.
I lost sight of him as he went behind some cars, and I just gauged where he would be coming out…still, he never did… there was a tree in the background…I went to the tree and looked up! and as you have figured out, it was this guy….I just didn’t understand such violence from him.
This was gangland big-time, so this act, was on the scale of things, small potatoes.
The police arrived… he denied, and I had no witness. And that was that. I worked in that area for two years, then moved into another area.
In regards to Mike…hmmm…. I’m not at all sure why he is so upset… I enjoyed his comments on different topics, and was in fact going to share with him my thoughts on what he asked me about regarding a border buffer area that I had mentioned.
I think he’s a good guy so for…maybe he thinks I was talking about him? in some way, that certainly wasn’t the case! or the intention!
He has helped me Enthusiast in me keeping my drivel coherent. 🙂
