Faith’s Journey

The total surrender of our will to the Father.

Then the Father’s beginning directions are given, for one’s life’s and work. Many there be, yet, the only purpose is to the bringing of, and to all people of the world, the saving knowledge of Christ, and how one can have a personal relationship with Jesus, as their own Savior and Lord.

January 2012. As a Christian Missionary now in Reynosa Mexico… after arriving here in the last months of 2005, and into the spring and summer of 2006, all of the things that seemed to be opening- as for as ministry- where sorely dampened by some very disappointing events.

I’ve been a missionary for some 35 years, and in all places, in all countries, in all of the various people groups that I’ve been involved with, there is one thing that Christians seem to repeat within each of their groups. These action are highlighted in the Bible’s Old Testament of so many centuries past…let’s read some, the scriptures are from the New King James Version of the Bible.

1 Samuel 8:1 – Now it came to pass when Samuel was old that he made his sons judges over Israel.

1Sa 8:2  – The name of his firstborn was Joel, and the name of his second, Abijah; they were judges in Beersheba.

1Sa 8:3  – But his sons did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after
dishonest gain, took bribes, and perverted justice.

1Sa 8:4  – Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah,

1Sa8:5  – and said to him, “Look, you are old, and your sons do not walk
in your ways. Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.”

1Sa 8:6  – But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, “Give us a king to judge us.” So Samuel prayed to the LORD.

1Sa 8:7  – And the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have
rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.

1Sa 8:8  – According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day–with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods–so they are doing to you also.

1Sa 8:9  – Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly
forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”

1Sa 8:10  – So Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked him for a king.

1Sa 8:11  – And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will
reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint [them] for his own chariots and [to be] his horsemen, and [some] will run before his chariots.

1Sa 8:12  – He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, [will set some] to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and [some] to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.

1Sa 8:13  – He will take your daughters [to be] perfumers, cooks, and bakers.

1Sa 8:14  – And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give [them] to his servants.

1Sa 8:15  – He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants.

1Sa 8:16  – And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put [them] to his work.

1Sa 8:17  – He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants.

1Sa 8:18  – And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have
chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear you in that day.”

1Sa 8:19  – Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us,

1Sa 8:20  – that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.”

1Sa 8:21  – And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the LORD.

1Sa 8:22  – So the LORD said to Samuel, “Heed their voice, and make them a king.” And Samuel said to the men of Israel, “Every man go to his city.”

The early believers of Christ, within the first century, had gathered and ultimately formed groups, and for the most part they were composed of families, then were added other believers, and then those from other groups etc.

We can read in the above scripture that Samuel served the Lord; yet, his children had no respect for him and neither, for his God. Also, within this group under Samuel leadership, was the people that weren’t serving and believing God, for their provincial care neither. They, upon seeing Samuel son’s blatant disregard for God, they also, as evident through their actions, in wanting a King, that their, the sins of the people, where indeed hidden also, from Samuel.

The people wanted to be like the world, the people wanted to decide their own destiny through a King that they could actually see and believe. We know that from the Book of the Law, that Samuel son’s had warranted a death sentence for their ungodly actions. Yet, the people used this as part of their reasoning to turn from God.

Today, when one is genuinely born again by the Holy Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit’s presence is so apparent to the new Christian that there is no need of other inspirations; however, in time, one then begins his or her’s pilgrim’s journey, through their earthly spiritual and physical life.

Faith is the essential key in their relationship with God, faith in their Salvation, faith in the Bible, and finally faith in God. God providence allows a newly born again Christian, a time to be established in the Christian faith. That time, of essential growth, culminates when one is lead to take a step, the first step’s of faith.

As in our Bible story above, those who then said, that they were followers of God, were to have Faith in God’s care for them, and His appointed leaders. Likewise, today, Christians are to have that same faith in God’s divine providence, when they’ve been lead to do or go in a direction from God.

Instead of believing God and His Word, His Word being only the true and correct version, which is the Protestant Christian Bible, especially the New Testament, for the New Testament is the only version for the spiritual and a everyday life guide, for the Christian, it is the only correct one no others.

Instead of believing that, they revert from faith in God’s care and providence, to that of  a man.  Questions like: Pastor what should I do? My good Christian friend, what should I do? Indeed, seeking the approval or validation, as to the things that God has spoken to one’s heart.  For the most part, the majority of people today, who attend a church are quite satisfied to continue their lukewarm lifestyle towards God, and Bible truths. These lukewarm attendees continue for the
most part because of a lack of spiritual leadership, a leadership thinking of other concerns, than Bible truths.

The spirit within the majority of Christian churches worldwide is one based on AUTONOMY, that is, each individual church selects its own pastor, selects which or how they will interpret the Bible, they’ll select their own interpretation to certain of their own denominations interpretations of the Bible.

This is the same spirit that stood before Samuel and said they wanted a king, like other heathen nations, this today is the same ungodly worldly spirit that wants to determine their own destiny, to have the final, and actual say as to where, and how, they’ll serve the Lord.

I was sorely disappointed in the things that I was made aware of here in Mexico, and it seemed that the door was closing, and I was packed and readied to return to the United States.

Then I, received three phone calls two days prior to my schedule departure, the first two were asking to the why of my departure, and I just briefly said things hadn’t opened up, without going into any specific details. Then, I received a third call from a former student, there was an immediate awareness when he began to speak, the Holy Spirit of God gave me the check in my spirit to listen and I did, and in the end, I continued in Reynosa Mexico.

The work continues here in a small way for a very big God, for it’s unto Him first, that I want to obey. Now I’ve worked with different churches, using English classes as an outreach tool in order to invite all to a free three month English class, and then having a Bible study before class.

This also includes having class’s in my home, and after a couple years, the Lord’s provincial hand of opportunity opened a door, and I was able to have a three month English, Bible class in the local prison here in Reynosa, to date now I have over a year in the prison classes.

During this time, I didn’t see many giving their lives to Christ, however, my purpose always has been, here, as well as in Asia, was to bring from an historical perspective, to the present day the promise in Genesis 3:15,

God said to Adam and Eve, after they, had disobeyed Him in the Garden of Eden, that He, God, was sending one in the future, which was going to totally crush the power of the devil. And that was done, by Christ’s
sacrificial death on the Cross to the Father, for mankind’s sin,  this first sin, commonly refereed to  as ‘Original Sin,’ that all humans are born with.

Christ therefore, redeems man back from sin, and allows man, now, a avenue back to God the Father. When one believes in Christ, the believer then through Christ, stands in a restored relationship with God.

The writer Oswald Chambers has touched on many truths, to the ordinary lives of Christians; however, these writings would seem foreign to many, they are so different, so removed, from what we, as Christians hear across the pulpits of today.

The cry of the missionaries heart is, “Total Abandonment to Christ!” This is not the message of our rather mundane weekly Christian church experience, today needed comments are in fact, a continual revelation of our need, for total  surrender to ‘Christ,’ as our Lord.

This is the sum total of our relationship with Christ, the giving of all of
ourselves to Christ, the total surrender of our will to the Father!

For the Father’s good pleasure, for His direction for our lives, for the bringing of the gospel message of salvation to all the people of the world, through the saving knowledge of Christ, as their personal Lord and Savior.

The Journey of Faith, for the “Lord is Faithful,” for “He Will Never Leave, Nor Forsake You.”

To Committed Christians to God’s Word,  Jesus came and spoke to those of the past, as to all now in 2012, saying, ’All authority
has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations . . .’ —Matthew 28:18-19

The key to the missionary’s work is superbly expressed by Chambers,

wse are inclined to look on our Lord as one who assists us in our endeavors for God. Yet our Lord places Himself as the absolute sovereign and supreme Lord over His disciples. He does not say that the lost will never be saved if we don’t go— He simply says, “Go Therefore and Make Disciples of All the Nations . . . .” He says, “Go on the basis of the revealed truth of My sovereignty, teaching and preaching out of your living experience of Me.”

“Then the eleven disciples went . . . to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them” ( Matthew 28:16 ). If I want to know the universal sovereignty of Christ, I must know Him myself. I must take time to worship the One whose name I bear. Jesus says, “Come to Me . . .”— that is the place to meet Jesus— “all you who labor and are heavy laden . . .” ( Matthew 11:28 )— and how many Missionaries are! We completely dismiss these wonderful words of the universal Sovereign of the world, but they are the words of Jesus to His disciples meant for here and now. “Go therefore . . . .” To “go” simply means to live. Acts 1:8 is
the description of how to go. Jesus did not say in this verse, “Go
into Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria,” but, ” you shall be witnesses
to Me in [all these places].” He takes upon Himself the work of sending
us. “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you . . .” ( John 15:7 )—
that is the way to keep going.

Where we are placed is then a matter of indifference to us, because God sovereignly engineers our goings. “None of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus . . .” ( Acts 20:24
). That is how to keep going until we are gone from this life. Oswald Chambers
